Robber Returns To Prison One Week After Release

court logoA 24-year old man, Maxwell Udom has been convicted and jailed one week after he was released from the same prison custody at Kirikiri, Lagos State Western Nigeria.
The convict, Udom was found guilty and sentenced to another two and half years before Isolo Magistrate court Lagos for another Criminal offence.
He was initially brought to the same Isolo for attempted murder and he spent three years in awaiting trial and was remanded in Kirikiri.
The court struck out the trial due to lack of diligent prosecution because the complainant did not show up after several adjournments.
However, one week after Udom was released from custody, he committed another Criminal offence.
The Akwa Ibom State born Udom allegedly conspired with other at large, attacked and rob Joseph Okpara and forcefully took away his Techno hand set and N22, 000 cash and escaped.
The incident happened in the evening at Fowora close in Ajao estate, Lagos.
He was later arrested and taken to the court for assault and stealing under the criminal code.
When he was arraigned in court, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Abas Abayomi informed the court that udom was a harden Criminal that have not shown any remorse.
Abayomi told the court that he was facing trial in the same court for attempted murder and the trial did not continue because the complainant refused to show up.
He informed the court the udom was just released few days ago and he had gone back to commit another crime.
He noted that Udom was a misfit in the society and should be sentenced accordingly.
Udom also confirmed his trial at the court and pleaded for leniency.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Joy Ugbomoiko found him guilty as charged and sentenced him accordingly.
