The Nigeria Police today tendered an apology to Mr. Kazim Afegbua, Spokesperson for retired military leader, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida for declaring him wanted
TheHeat Nigeria learnt that Afegbua reported today at Nigeria Police Force Abuja following the order of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
IGP Idris, had earlier declared Afegbua wanted in connection with a statement he issued on behalf of Babangida on Sunday.
The statement had asked President Muhammadu Buhari to quit the political scene in 2019 for a younger element to run the country.
Kazim Afegbua went to Headquarters with his lawyer, Kayode Ajulo, who had earlier slammed a N1 billion Naira suit on the police, Channels Television and the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, for alledged defamation of character.
He was informed that all that the police wanted to achieve was to find out why there were two different statements in the name of Babangida in one day.
The police officers told Afegbua and Ajulo, that the Force has since been able to establish the truth of the matter.
