Lawyer Held For Fingering 9yr-Old Girl

There was uproar at the Tinubu Magistrates Court, Lagos, Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon when a legal practitioner identified as Chika Uzoamaka was allegedly accused of fingering the private part of a nine years old girl, (name withheld) inside one of the court rooms.

The incident, according eye witnesses, occurred at about 1pm when the victim who was said to have returned from England four days ago accompanied her grandmother to attend her civil matter at the court.

Though details of the incident was still sketchy as at press time, TheHeat reliably gathered that the incident occurred when the victim’s grandmother contracted the lawyer to help her handle her civil case pending in the court.

Instead of the lawyer to concentrate on the matter, he reportedly went after the daughter of his client and took her away from the mother to a nearby seat. He reportedly carried the girl on his laps and gave her his phone her to be playing with.

Few minutes after, the girl was said to have started crying and calling her mother. The her mother got there, the little girl was said to have told her mother that uncle, pointing at the lawyer, put something in her yash.

On examining her daughter, the woman raised the alarm that her daughter had been sexually abused. She was said to have rushed at the lawyer and slapped him severally and held him shouting “you have spoiled my daughter for me; I will teach you a lesson”.

The incident, it was learnt, reportedly disrupted proceedings at the court premises briefly and attracted the attention of the chief magistrate in charge of Tinubu courts, Mrs. Kebi Ayeye who reportedly invited all the parties for questioning. It was also gathered that when the little girl was asked by the chief magistrate what happened to her, she was said to have still repeated what she had earlier told her mother that uncle, still pointing at Bar. Uzoamaka, put something in her yash.

But Bar. Chika Uzoamaka, it was learnt, allegedly denied all the claims of the victim saying he did not touch her in any way. Following the development, Chief magistrate Ayeye, quickly directed a police officer in the court to arrest the lawyer and take him to Lion Building Police Division, Lagos Island for proper investigation.

When our reporter visited Lion Building police division to see the DPO for comment, she was said to have gone out but a police source informed our reporter that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, in charge of Area A command has taken over the matter.

Efforts made to see the ACP was unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report.
