DSS arrests kidnappers in Lagos

court logoOperatives of the Department of Security Service, DSS, have arrested four suspected Kidnappers  and charged them before a Lagos court after they allegedly kidnapped a victim and collected N3m ransom from the victim’s family in Ikorodu area of Lagos State Western Nigeria.
The suspects are Ramoni Shofodun, Marcus Azilo,  Raphael Omoro and Solomon Omojowo.
The incident happened on 2 July, 2015 at  Imagbon area in Ikorodu where the victim was kidnapped and kept in captivity.
All the suspects are male and reside in Ikorodu area where they allegedly operated and perpetrated the crime of kidnapping in Lagos and its environs.
They were arrested by DSS after they  allegedly kidnapped Owagbemi Ebenezer Dare and kept her in captivity for some days until the ransom was paid.
It was gathered that while the victim was in captivity the suspects established link with the family and negotiated for N3m as ransom before the release.
It was also gathered that before and after the payment of ransom and release, unknown to the suspects, they were being monitored and trailed by the security operatives.
They were later arrested by the officers of Department of Security Service, DSS who have been long monitoring their activities.
It was not yet clear whether the ransom money was recovered from them or not.
They were charged before Isolo Magistrate’ court for the alleged offence.
They were brought to court and charged with conspiracy and kidnapping under the Criminal Code.
They pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adebayo granted them bail in the sum of N1m with two surties in like sum who must show evident tax payment for three years.
They were remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when they will perfect their bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 23 September 2015
