Following the Federal Government’s decision to conduct a comprehensive energy audit recently announced by the Minister of Power, work and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, Nigeria’s resilient and foremost renewable energy researcher and Managing Director of Prince AdeS Oke Int’l Ventures, Prince Okedele Timothy has expressed delight for what he called ‘pro-active action and a step in the right direction’.
Okedele while addressing newsmen in Lagos over the weekend showered encomiums on the Federal Government for its recent decision to embark on energy audit, noting that his joy knew no bound when that news came because it marked a watershed in his patriotic contribution to national development, particularly in the energy sector.
He stressed that, his facts can be seen through countless newspaper reports and correspondence seeking government to adopt modules aimed at enhancing certain sectors of the economy in the interest of Nigerians.
Okedele affirmed that the present Government has began to show its keenness towards meeting the desires of the masses, particularly the urgent need to revive Nigeria’s power sector which has taken negative toll on other sectors, slowing down businesses and attempting to totally cripple the economy.
“This development is fundamental because it would help the government to accelerate efforts towards changing the energy matrix of the country and create jobs since the exercise has the capacity of engaging staff and contractors as well as Nigerian youths who will be recruited in the course of the audit.
“Okedele also pointed that just as the National Census programme usually opens opportunities for Nigerians, the energy audit also has the capacity to engage the youth gainfully, taking their attention from crimes.”
Okedele further said the latent job opportunities in this new decision is of progressive dimension that will keep opening meaningful vistas as new neighborhoods unfold across the federation, because, new layouts, estates etc. will need experts to ascertain what quantity of energy will be adequate for efficiency, thereby resulting in more rewarding opportunities for the youths in the future.
