The MTV Base VJ Search 2016 auditions kicked off in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, on Tuesday, 9 August as tons of aspiring hopefuls filled up the NAF Conference Centre for the first leg of the auditions.
With some of Abuja’s finest personalities on hand as judges, the contestants had to impress media consultant, Eddie Madaki, comedian and Wazobia FM OAP, Big Mo, Award winning music producer, Gospel on De Beat, top promoter and YBNL Abuja rep, Vidi Inyang, Founder, Abuja Entertainment Seminar, Chinedu Oji and Hot FM OAP, Amaka Onyeagoro.
MTV Base VJ Ehizojie Okoeguale, winner of the second edition of the VJ Search competition and now an established TV star, was also at the auditions to meet with the contestants, talk them through the various stages of the auditions, and give tips on how to be an MTV Base VJ.
Since winning the VJ search in 2013, Ehiz has hosted a multitude of MTV Base programmes and showbiz events, including the Official Naija Top 10, Word on the Street, and Real Talk, and interviewed stars from Lagos to Amsterdam and Hollywood, including artistes like Tinie Tempah, Wale, Jidenna, Davido, Wizkid and Tiwa Savage, among many others.
The winner of the MTV VJ Search 2016 will go home with a 2-year contract with MTV Base worth N20 Million. The new VJ will become one of the key faces of the music network, hosting programmes on MTV Base. The winner will also interview stars, emcee parties and concerts, walk the red carpet at entertainment events and travel all over the world representing MTV Base.
The MTV Base VJ Search is open to Nigerian citizens aged between 18-25, with fluent spoken English and a valid Nigerian passport. Applicants already associated with another major TV or radio station are not eligible to participate.
