Despite Nigeria’s 4-1 lost to Ghana, goalkeeper and captain of the home-based Super Eagles, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has been named the best goalkeeper of the 2017 West African Football Union, WAFU, championship.
The FC Ifeanyi Ubah stopper won the award despite letting in four goals in the final of the competition. He, however, kept four clean sheets winning him the Golden Glove at the tournament.
Ghana’s Stephen Sarfo emerged as the top scorer of the tournament. He scored a brace in the final against Nigeria to take his goal tally to four in the tournament. Twum Isaac, another Ghanaian player, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
